
AIZAWL: Mizoram governor Hari Babu Kambhampati has referred the petition within the challenge of office-of-profit case against the minister of state for tourism, Robert Romawia Royte, to the Election Commission of India (ECI), Raj Bhavan sources in Aizawl stated on Sunday.
In a letter written to SB Joshi, principal secretary to the ECI, secretary to the governor, V Lalsangliana stated he was requested to request the previous to study the matter and submit the opinion of the EC below the supply of Article 192 (2) of the Constitution for additional consideration of the governor.
In the previous paragraph, Lalsangliana stated he enclosed a duplicate of the petition by SL Ngursailova Sailo, basic secretary of the Zoram People’s Movement vigilance division together with different associated paperwork submitted to the governor on February 28. Petitioner Sailo sought the disqualification of Royte, who was elected from the 14-Aizawl East-II constituency within the 2018 meeting election. tnn
