Guwahati: The Gauhati High Court on Tuesday directed the Guwahati Jal Board managing director to file an affidavit inside two weeks, stating the progress made within the work of supplying potable water to Guwahati residents. The affidavit must also embody the timeline for completion of the scheme(s), availability of funds for execution of the tasks and interim preparations, if any, made for supplying consuming water to the residents.
The bench of Justice Suman Shyam and Justice Susmita Phukan Khaund was listening to a petition filed by ‘Chiriyakhana Path Jyestho Nagarik Sanshta’, a senior residents’ discussion board, flagging the burning difficulty of potable consuming water disaster within the metropolis.
