Govt Constitutes Delimitation Board For Silchar Municipal Corp | Guwahati News

SILCHAR: Assam governor Jagdish Mukhi has constituted a five-member delimitation board for the Silchar Municipal Corporation as per Section 4(2) of the Assam Municipal Corporation Act, 2022. The board will work in expediting the ward-based delimitation process, and will soon submit its report to the state government.
In a notification, which was signed by Raichand Ahmed, joint secretary of the housing and urban affairs department on December 27, the Cachar DC has been given the responsibility as the chairman of the delimitation board.
Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty has been nominated as a board member. Hemant Bhuiyan, joint secretary of the housing and urban affairs department, Bimal Oswal, a social worker and lawyer are also part of the board. The remaining two members are additional DC of Cachar and executive officer of the Silchar Municipal Board.
A senior official said the board will hold its first meeting within a week and finalise its working process. Under the leadership of the DC (Cachar), the board will prepare the ward-wise plan of the corporation and submit it to the government in the form of an opinion. After that, the ward arrangement process will be finalised.
