Silchar: Revenue intelligence officers seized eight gold bars and detained three males on this connection from a practice at New Karimganj railway station on Saturday.
Sources stated a group of income intelligence officers from Tripura, performing on a tip-off, performed an operation at New Karimganj rail station round 12.30pm on Saturday and detained three males with eight gold bars from the Agartala-Sealdah Kanchenjunga Express.
The detained males have been recognized as Titon Paul, Rajib Paul and Gautam Paul. All of them hail from Tripura’s Dharmanagar locality, sources stated. The market worth of the seized bars is about Rs 1 crore.
An official at Karimganj rail station stated the detained males have been being taken to Dharmanagar and that the matter was being investigated.
