
GUWAHATI: The greed for bribe has landed three authorities officers, one of whom is a chief engineer of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC), in police internet because the directorate of vigilance and anti-corruption (V&AC) caught them red-handed whereas taking bribes on Wednesday.
V&AC ADGP Surendra Kumar mentioned with the recent arrests, the directorate has caught 15 authorities officers red-handed and arrested them in bribery instances up to now this month.
GMC chief engineer Indrajit Bora was caught purple handed by the vigilance sleuths whereas taking a bribe quantity of Rs 6,000 from the complainant for releasing a safety deposit of Rs 1.6 lakh. He had demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000.
Later, the vigilance sleuths seized Rs 6.93 lakh in money, paperwork of 19 financial institution accounts, one Audi A6 automobile and one Innova automobile from his residence through the search.
Meanwhile, one lat mandal of Baghbor circle workplace in Barpeta district, Azahar Ali Ahmed, was caught whereas taking Rs 20,000 from the complainant for demarcation of his land. The accused had demanded Rs 1 lakh from the complainant. Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant had approached the directorate and accordingly a entice was laid by the directorate.
Another lat mandal of Biswanath income circle in Biswanath district was caught with a bribe quantity of Rs 3,000 from the complainant for finishing the method of mutation of the complainant’s land.
