
GUWAHATI: On a day of the swearing-in of its second successive alliance authorities in Tripura within the presence of PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday, Union residence minister Amit Shah took a giant breakthrough step to clear up the decades-old issues of native tribals of the state.
Shah, at a gathering with TIPRA Motha management in Agartala, assured that the Centre will quickly appoint an interlocutor to find a constitutional solution to the calls for of tribals for defense of their land, id and welfare. BJP president JP Nadda, Tripura CM Manik Saha, TIPRA Motha chief Pradyot Kishore Debbarma and Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma had been current on the assembly.
Debbarma, after the assembly, tweeted, “The home minister has started the process for a constitutional solution for the indigenous people of Tripura. An interlocutor for this process will be appointed and this will be within a specific time frame. I thank the Home Minister for understanding the genuine problems of the Son of the soil.”
“We successfully got our Bru people rehabilitation in our state after 23 years by signing the Bru Accord, and today we have started a huge dialogue to ensure that our survival and existence are protected,” he added.
Standing his floor, Debbarma informed the media, “We are not sitting in the government. We want the solution to come within a time frame and then, we may review our decision. This is not about making three or four of our MLAs as cabinet ministers but about solution to the 14 lakh tribal population. Until the solution, we will not sit in the government.”
Debbbarma stated this time round, the method in direction of the solution can be totally different from previous workout routines. “This time, the understating is between the federal government of India and Motha and never between two political events like up to now. This time, the solution can be constitutional and never a solution from a committee,’ he added.
